Artificial Intelligence

In the following video, I attempt to give insight to how much artificial intelligence is already integrated in to our lives, how we are on the verge of some massive break throughs in both technology and affordability of AI technologies and that the technology is important to recognise for business’ trying to compete in a digital world.

I chose to try and relate to an audience that is unlikely to be aware of the prevalence of AI and may just think of it as science fiction and then enlighten them with how much it already exists and how much better our world is for it paying particular attention to image recognition and social media to stay relevant.

I also want to encourage business’ and start-ups to consider researching how AI may assist them since the technology is quite affordable and available through major providers such as Google, Microsoft and Amazon.

I planned the production in an office environment to try and present myself in the illusion of knowledge to build a trust with the audience that I know what I am talking about. Whilst I have access to video editing software, I decided to subscribe to the student addition of Adobe Cloud to get access to Adobe Premier Pro and After Effects to edit the production after researching all the easy to learn tools available in the software suite. I took quite a bit of overlay video which I thought would be good for transitions and to cover up editing clips and found a stock of related images through the creative commons friendly web-site Flikkr to mix up the video a bit and make it more interesting. I selected eerie music to set the initial dystopian feel to the intro which was then used for the credits also.

Finding a good location for filming was extremely difficult challenge for me as I work from a shared office environment and live in a share house. I had to come in early and find a suitable location free from sunlight and office clutter. I was able to find a window but still struggled to remove all the glare but did the best I could by adjusting the roof lighting.

The editing of the production was difficult and felt a bit disjointed but didn’t have time to re-record. I compensated by trying to draw attention away from me at key points to overlay images.

I didn’t end up using any of the b-roll video I took, it all ended up looking out of place. I would next time try to allow time to take new footage as it’s required rather than create footage that may be required in advance. I found the use of overlay images quite rough and used Adobe Premier’s transition effects to try and soften the abrupt changes. I used Adobe After effects to try and make the intro and credits more interesting and less bland. I needed to do what I could to keep the audience’s attention.

My initial edit went way longer than I had anticipated which resulted in cutting down a lot of content out which made me feel like it was a very quick overview rather than an informative video, but I think that is OK. I ended the video with a statement that I’d love to drill more in to the subject in future videos.
